Hello all, hope you are well. I reached
out to most of you yesterday to get a feel for your leagues proceeding with the
current health risk and the COVID-19 situation as it pertains to golfing at
Community. As predicted, in the short time between calling you and
you receiving this e-mail, there has been a change. This information
will be sent out to the entire golf database by the golf office, however
I want to get it to you as soon as possible. I have added my thoughts in
red to better help you understand why these procedures were put into place.
But it's overall a simple answer. The safety of everyone is paramount,
golfers and staff. Currently we are still able to provide golf...for
now. In an effort to reduce
the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Community, Kittyhawk and Madden will be
implementing the following changes effective Thursday, March 19th until Monday,
April 27th.
This is
fluid and may be shortened or extended. This will help address the “gatherings of 10 persons or more”
both in the golf shop during check in and while waiting to start on the tee. Your
league golfers are welcome to play, but must make a tee time. When nice
weather hits and the tee sheet is full, casual golfers will be turned away
unless golfers want to hit range balls or make a shop purchase.
We cannot allow large groups of golfers to gather like we would normally
on a pretty spring day. We will be doing 9 holes only starting at 3pm weekdays so
we can tee off golfers on all four nines. This is to accommodate as
many golfers safely as we can *Food and beverage
will be carry-out only and may have limited items. *Cups will be set
three inches above ground level as a target to avoid touching the cup
and flag. Putt till you hit the cup and then pick up the ball and
move on. I
will post signs and we will ask the starters to communicate this as well * No bunker rakes will
be available. Again, starters will communicate this as well. We will
provide rangers with a rake to limit touches * Rain-checks will not
be offered in the event of inclement weather, play at your own risk. In the
event of a weather related delays you are expected to wait in your car. This is clearly an effort to limit gatherings of 10 or
more. If there is a chance of rain, we need to make sure we are clear on
this temporary policy. If we blow the siren golfers will need to go to
their vehicles, golfers will not be able to gather in the clubhouse
area. *Carts
will be disinfected after each use and we will accommodate one person per cart
as carts are available I
have been in contact with my local PGA section, fellow PGA professionals and
course operators looking for ideas. The City of Dayton and Golf Office
are doing everything possible to keep everyone safe and still remain
open. We will inform you as soon as possible if things change.
Until then, please be safe and we hope to see you soon. Jana N. Dalton |
