|Miami Valley Golf|
Through the decades there have been golf organizations dating back to the late teens, however, for cultural and economic reasons an organization never stayed together. Discussions of reformation begin at Miami Valley Golf Club in 1994, and with the resources provided by the USGA and a group of committed volunteers Miami Valley Golf was formed.
More than two decades later we have grown and matured into the Primary Caretakers of the Amateur Game in the Miami Valley, Stewarding the Dayton District Women's, Miami Valley Masters and United States Golf Association Events, Championships and Qualifiers while reestablishing and starting a number of events as well.
Traditionally we start our season with the Spring Better Ball, then in conjunction with the Ohio Golf Association we run the Ohio Amateur Qualifier, generally the Tuesday after Memorial Day. Followed by the Area's Amateur Championship "The Metropolitan" . We follow that up with the Mercedes Benz Dealer Championship at Moraine in Mid August, followed by the Sr & Mid Amateur Championship We then contest the Annual Miami Valley Team Invitational, before we end the Tournament Season with our annual variable best ball and awards banquet "The Celebration" at Dayton CC.
Along the way our volunteer team of course raters will rate seven golf courses, we will provide many educational seminars at area facilities throughout the off season, primarily on the Modernized Rules & the World Handicap System.
All of these MVGA Programs, as well as DDWGA, Masters Events & USGA Course Ratings, Championship Qualifiers and Game Stewardship is not possible without our over nine thousand members. We encourage you to spread the word about golf and how life enhancing our game is for not just our generation but those to come.
All the best and keep it in the Short Grass !
