Five on their way to LA

5_Together - Congratulations to our five qualifiers who have secured their places in the 123rd US Womens Amateur Championship at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, August 7-13. Bel-Air will be the second George Thomas designed course to host a USGA Championship and the second time a USGA National Championship will be played in LA this year.

It seems to be an annual tradition that a playoff decides the final position(s) in our qualifier.  This year was no different, as there were four players tied at 73 for the final qualifying position at Walnut Grove Country Club.

It took four playoff holes, but thanks to her second birdie, of the sudden death playoff, on Hole #18, Madison Dabagia the Indiana resident and current sophomore at Iowa grabbed the last position by making a 20-foot birdie putt.

Our two medalists were Reagan Ramage and Gabby Woods who both finished with a score of 70, two under par. Gabby, an Ohio native is going into her final year at Findlay University and helped her team win the National NCAA, D2, Team title in 2022.  Reagan is a rising junior at Randall K. Cooper High School in Union, Kentucky.

Claiming the third and fourth qualifying positions were Isabella Wiley and Sarah Willis who both finished with a score of 72, even par. Sarah is a recent graduate from Penn State and has just completed her final year of eligibility in collegiate golf. This was her sixth attempt to qualify at Walnut Grove having been close to qualifying several times dating back to 2015.  Isabella will begin her collegiate career this fall at Morehead State University after a successful high school career.

Lively_BobThanks to the hard-working turf staff at Walnut Grove Country Club, led by Superintendent Randy Boudinot for continuously preparing and maintaining a great conditioned course for the qualifier.

Finally, thanks to all the Volunteers and Walnut Grove Members and Staff for making this qualifier such a great event and hosting this National Qualifier every year.  We look forward to returning next July 11th to continue the tradition.
