 Scott Roderick
-Scott Roderick has been a dedicated volunteer with Miami Valley Golf for five years as a scorer and forecaddie. His journey with golf began at the age of seven, when he inherited his older brother's clubs. He would spend countless hours hitting practice balls around the backyard.IMG_1261_-_Scott_Roderick

One of the defining moments in Scott's golfing journey occurred during his time in the Army. In 2006, during a large golf outing with his unit in sunny Orlando, Florida, he found himself facing a 143-yard par 3 hole. He struck his tee shot and watched as it sailed through the air and landed a mere three inches from the hole, winning the closest to the hole competition.

The prize was a $50 gift certificate to the PGA Superstore, which he promptly used to buy a Sunday bag.

Scott's dedication to service extends beyond the golf course. After serving 25 honorable years in the US Army, he retired in 2017. Today, he leads a semi-retired life as a lawyer, occasionally providing his expertise to those in need. But his commitment to giving back doesn't stop there.

Scott volunteers as a coach with the PGA Jr. League, nurturing the next generation of golfers and sharing his love for the sport. Twice a year, he steps into the role of proctor at the Ohio Bar Exam and on election day, he takes on the responsibility of a poll worker.

During the golf off-season, Scott joins a bowling league to keep himself limber for the fairways and greens. While he was once active in Mensa, his priorities have shifted since moving to Southwest Ohio, where the allure of golf and community service have taken center stage.

Scott and his wife Kelly have been married for 27 years. They reside in Springfield, OH and share their home with two extremely spoiled cats and are contemplating adopting a dog, now that they live in the countryside.

To Scott, golf is more than just a game; it's a mirror to one's character. It reveals whether you are comfortable in your own skin, whether you can laugh off the occasional bad shot. Fortunately, Scott possesses that inner calm, and everyone he golfs with ends up sharing in the laughter, even on those days when the ball doesn't quite go as planned.
