Heading into the Final Round
1238- The third round of the 101st Metropolitan saw defending champion Mikkel Mathiesen retain his 6-shot lead thanks to a slippery putt on 18 which dropped for birdie.  He will tee off in the final group at 9:20am along with Shane Ochs who made a dent into Mikkel's lead getting to as close as three back with a four under start through the first seven holes before giving back a couple of shots later in the round.  Joining the final group will be Xavier Golfer Oscar Zimmerman who tied for the lowest round of the day with a 68.  Joining Oscar with a 68 was Bellbrook HS rising sophomore Aiden Caswell.

Through the first three rounds Zimmerman, Ochs and Mathiesen are the only players to have all their scores in the 60’s.

Close behind Zimmerman and Ochs sits Ian Asch who tied Mathiesen’s front nine low score for the Championship with a 31 after making six birdies against one bogey on #2.  His third round 69, matches his first-round score and has him at four under for the championship.

After Saturday’s third round, nine players are under par.

The hardest hole of the day was the par-4 eighteenth as it played .63 strokes above par and saw five double-bogeys or worse, despite being moved up to 433 yards.

The easiest hole of the day was the par-4 fifth hole, which was moved up to just 307 yards. The average score was 3.63 and it saw 17 birdies of the 35 players who teed off for the third round.

Tee times will begin at 7:30 A.M. and conclude with our leaders teeing off at 9:20 A.M.  Spectators are welcome to attend.
