Mathiesen Sets Scoring Mark

Mikkel_In_Charge- In Metropolitan Recorded History the first 36-hole scoring mark had never been lower than 132.  This mark was set in 2017 when Josh Gilkison opened the event with rounds of 70-62.  Our second-round leader, Mikkel Mathiesen followed up his 62 yesterday with a four under 67 to finish his first 36 holes at 129 (13 Under Par) setting a new opening 36-hole record.  He takes a 6-shot lead over Cleveland State’s, Brody Simms who followed his first round 66 with a 69 today and fellow Wright State Teammate, Shane Ochs who followed his first round 68 with a four under 67.  Also tying the low score mark for the second round was five-time champion Pete Samborsky who sits one back of Oscar Zimmerman who is at 5 under par after 36 holes.

Today’s round saw 12 players have under par rounds and the cut included 36 players at + 8 or better.

The hardest hole of the day was the par-4 second, which was moved back to it’s full distance of 491 yards, and it played .86 strokes over par with 13 players scoring double bogeys or worse on the brut of a Par 4.

The easiest hole of the day was again the par-5 ninth which played .33 strokes under par and saw 32 birdies.

Tee times will begin at 7:30 A.M. and conclude with our leaders teeing off at 9:20 A.M.  Spectators are welcome to attend.
