- Our three-time Player of the Year, Austin Greaser, a Vandalia Butler graduate, Arnold Palmer Cup Selectee, and prominent player for the North Carolina Golf Team announced earlier in the week he has decided to opt-out of the PGA TOUR University Class of 2023. Despite being ranked in the top five throughout the season, Greaser has chosen to utilize his additional year of NCAA eligibility in the upcoming season so he will play for the Tar Heels for one more season. 

Several other notable players have also opted out since the conclusion of the Regionals. Brian Stark from Texas (ranked 9th), William Moll from Vanderbilt (ranked 14th), and John Keefer from Baylor (ranked 24th) have withdrawn from the PGA TOUR University Ranking. As a result, these players remain eligible for the PGA TOUR U Class of 2024.

Austin and his Tar Heel Team will begin play in the NCAA D1 Men's Finals on Friday, May 26th. All competitors will complete 54 holes, aiming to secure a place among the top 15 teams and nine individual players not on advancing teams. After this initial stage, the final day of 18 holes of stroke play will take place on Monday, May 29th. This final round will determine the top eight teams that will advance to the match play portion, along with crowning an individual champion based on a cumulative 72-hole score. 

The championship shifts over to match play with the remaining eight teams. Quarterfinals and Semifinals occur on Tuesday, May 30th, and the Final Matches take place on Wednesday, May 31st to crown the national championship team. 

Grayhawk Golf Club, the venue for last year’s Championship, will once again host. In the previous edition, the team title was claimed by Texas, who triumphed over Arizona State, securing a 3-2 victory. The individual champion was Gordon Sargent from Vanderbilt, who won in a playoff. You can watch this championship on Golf Channel and follow the scoring on Golf Stat.
