This FREE event is intended to introduce young ladies to the game in a fun non threatening introductory manner.

Clubs will be provided if golfers do not have their own.  Lunch will also be provided and the session runs from 9am to Noon.

Raiders win their Conference Championship
This past Tuesday, Wright State won the Horizon Conference Championship for the first time in 15 years.  Their final round even par score of 288 was enough to erase a four shot deficit to finish the three round tournament at 888 beating the second place team, Northern Kentucky, by eight shots.

The victory assures them a spot in the NCAA Tournament and the selection show will be on Golf Channel at 9am on Wednesday, May 1st.  Go Raiders!

Local Rule for Stroke and Distance
Your Association has put the final touches on our Local Rules and Conditions of Competition. Our competitions committee has also decided to adopt the Local Rule for a Ball that is Lost or Out of Bounds (E-5) in all but the following Events.

  • All USGA Qualifiers
  • The Metropolitan
  • The Sr and Mid Am
  • The MVTI.

This does not prevent you from playing a provisional ball and in most cases it is still wise to do so.  This local rule is not available to the first ball when you put a provisional ball into play.
Course Raters Start Season
Each year a group of dedicated volunteers provide a very important, but often taken for granted procedure when they rate our area courses.  The rating process is multi faceted, taking into account the length and the obstacles that determine the courses Scratch and Bogey Course Ratings.  The slope is determined from the rise/run formula between the two numbers.  Without this process net golf would be impossible!

The 2019 Rating Schedule is as follows
• April 22 - Yankee Trace Vintage
• May 13 - Kittyhawk - Hawk
• June 10 - Reid Park North
• July 15 - Wildwood
• August 12 - Reid Park South
• September 16 - Sugar Valley
• October 14 - Rain date
• November 1 - Issuance Meeting

So now you know what our Blue Shirted Volunteers  are up too and thank them for their service to our game!

Are You posting Your scores ?

With spring upon us, remember that we started the score posting season on March 15th.  Not sure when to post a score?  Well, these are the Reasons when you CANNOT post your score...

  • When you play fewer than 7 holes
  • When you play by yourself
  • When you play a majority of the holes not in accordance with the principles of the Rules of Golf, however if you play preferred lies (winter rules) those scores shall be posted
  • When the length of the course is less than 3,000 yards for 18-holes
  • When types or maximum number of clubs are less than 14, for example, in a competition that allows only irons
  • When you play on a course with no USGA Course and Slope Rating
  • When you play with non-conforming clubs or use non-conforming balls
  • When artificial devices (as defined under Rule 14-3) are used during the execution of a stroke.
We hope this helps your understanding of when scores should be posted!

If you go to post your score and have a problem...It's likely you have not renewed for the 2019 season yet.
