Following the first 18 holes, former Wright State Raider, Jesse Hutchins was on the outside looking in. It took a -5, 30 on the front nine of his second round to get back in the game.

Hutchins was able to post a bogey-free, 64 in the second round to shoot a two-round total of 135 which placed him in a second place tie with University of Illinois player, Luke Guthrie. Following a near miss by Guthrie on the first playoff hole, Hutchins was able to fight off his nerves and drop the birdie putt to advance to the 111th U.S. Open Championship to be played at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland.

Jesse was runner-up to 20 year old, Seung Yul Noh of Seoul, Korea. Noh, ranked in the top 100 of the World Golf Rankings, shot 66-66 - 132 earning medalist honors and a spot in the U.S. Open for the second year in a row. Last year, Noh advnanced through Springfield and went on to make the cut and finish tied for 40th at Pebble Beach.

Hutchins and Noh will join 154 of the world's best players in one of the most challenging tournaments in all of professional golf. We wish both players the best of luck...we look forward to following them at Congressional!

A special THANK YOU to all of our volunteers and the staff at Springfield Country Club! This event was a HUGE success because of your efforts!
