  A Word from the President

Winter has certainly given us enough snow and ice in the Dayton area, but spring is coming and we can only hope that the warm weather follows us to the golf course.  We have some new faces on our DDWGA Board this year and you can find our pictures on the website by going to miamivalleygolf.org and clicking on the DDWGA link.  I will be your President for the 2008 golfing season.  You have elected Sarah Hoschouer as Vice President, and I have appointed Carol Smith to serve as Secretary.  We have a new Handicap Chair in Becky Parr and Timothy Stapleton is already on board as our PJ Boatwright Jr. Intern.

I look forward to a fun year on the links and know that you will enjoy the courses chosen for the coming year.  Please visit our website and see all of the exciting offerings listed.  There are many ways for our members to volunteer and we invite you to get involved.  I, for one, am looking forward to seeing everyone again and praying that I can” hit them straight”.

2008 DDWGA Club Representative Meeting

This year’s Club Representative Meeting was a complete success.  It was evening full of hors d’oeuvres, fine wine and thought provoking discussion pertaining to the state of the DDWGA.

The meeting began with an introduction from all of the DDWGA board members.  After a round of applause President, Sarah Cunningham addressed the representatives, followed by the treasurers report, from Donna Wiseman and the tournament report from Cynthia Pratt.  Kathy Ingersoll discussed the role of being a club representative and challenged the members to actively promote event participation by DDWGA members.

Debbie Cullman, the Scholarship Chairperson, discussed the role the DDWGA has in providing camp and college scholarships to young ladies in the Dayton area and Diana Schwab, the Course Rating Chair, told us of the importance of effective course rating for women, as well as the need for volunteers.

Steve Jurick, the Executive Director of the Miami Valley Golf Association closed with a brief history of the DDWGA and the many faces the organization has taken on over the years.  Finally, a drawing was held for free entry into one of the DDWGA events this year.

Drum roll please.....

And the winner was, Lois Caylor!

The meeting was fun, informative and sets the stage for another great year with the DDWGA.
