Collegiate Spring Season Underway

- Both the Wright State Raiders and Dayton Flyers men's teams were back in action this week competing in their first stroke-play tournaments of the spring. WrightStatePS

The Raiders competed in The Savannah Intercollegiate in Savannah, GA this past Saturday and Sunday where they were led by Junior Tyler Goecke from Xenia. They finished 5th out of 16 teams in the field this week, making this the first time the Raiders haven't finished in 1st or 2nd place since the 2020-21 season. Individual 54-hole scores included: Tyler Goecke (-3, T4th), Davis Root (E, 12th), Mikkel Mathiesen (+3, T19th), Cole Corder (+5, T25th), and Bryce Haney (+12, T50th). This past week, the Raiders were also pre-season ranked the top team in the the Horizon League.

The Dayton Flyers competed in their first stroke-play event of the spring at The Wexford Intercollegiate in Hilton Head Island, SC this past Monday and Tuesday. After a slow start in round 1, the flyers were able to rally to finish 9th out of 17 teams. Junior Kyle Schmidt led the squad this week with a 54-hole score 3 over-par, placing him in a tie for 15th place individually.

Both teams are competing next week at The Sea Palms Invitational in St. Simmons Island, GA on March 4th and 5th. The tournament is hosted by Western Carolina University and will be played at Sea Palms Golf and Tennis Resort.
