- It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of El Collins, PGA. Born in Hazard, Kentucky in 1934, El grew up with a love for golf and spent his life dedicated to the game.

After serving four years in the Navy, El attended Eastern Kentucky University and began his golf career as an Assistant Golf Professional at Lancaster Country Club in Ohio. He then became the Head Professional at Sharon Woods and Moundbuilders before settling in Springfield, Ohio as the Head Professional at Reid Park Golf Course. He remained at Reid Park for over 50 years and continued to work in the golf shop even in his later years.

El was an accomplished golfer and served the game in many capacities, including a term as the Southern Ohio Section President and District Director. He won numerous Miami Valley PGA titles and the Southern Ohio Section Title in 1986. He also qualified and played in 25 Senior Tour Events in 1987, making 24 cuts with 1 top ten finish and finished in the top 25 four times.

In 1998, El was inducted into the Southern Ohio PGA Hall of Fame, a testament to his contributions to the game of golf. He will be remembered as a dedicated and respected golf professional, and his legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched through his passion for the game.

El Collins will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the golf community.  Arrangements are pending and will be shared when determined.
