- GOLF GENIUS MAKES IT EASY

- Golf Leagues and weekly groups are a popular part of the golf environment as they provide a great way to combine the social and competitive aspects of the game.

There are many different variations of leagues, but the most common leagues we see will typically use both individual and team formats that are based on season long point totals. Occasionally, leagues will use a variety of formats throughout the season that incorporate both single and team based events.

When creating these leagues in your Golf Genius account we often debate if we should create a league or an event format? Best practices have shown the following:

League Characteristics

  • Generally, include 6 or more rounds
  • Rounds are usually played weekly over the course of the season
  • All the player in the league plays each week or just some of the players

Event Characteristics

  • Generally, include 5 or fewer rounds of golf like most member guest formats
  • Event is usually player in over the course of 1-4 days (Exception: a season long bracketed event)
  • All the players in the event play every round

Technically, events and leagues work very similarly in our system. The only significant difference is how divisions, flights, and teams are synced using a yearly points system.
