QualifiersVandalia's Austin Greaser put together quite the week at this year's 119th Western Amateur at The Glen View Club in Golf, IL. The championship features a decorated field including 156 of the best amateurs from around the world.

After 72 holes of stroke-play, a cut was made to the top 16 players who competed in a match-play bracket. Greaser stood at 7-under par and in a tie for 9th place which earned him the 13th seed. The rising junior at the University of North Carolina began by defeating two of the nation's best in University of Georgia's Trent Phillips (20 holes) and Oklahoma State's Brian Stark (2up). It was during Saturday's semi-final match where Greaser eventually was defeated by Stanford's Michael Thorbjornsen (2up), who went on to win the championship. Greaser is now ranked 84th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, which is his highest ranking to date.
