Tyler Goecke Leads by 6

Goecke_3rd_Rd_Leader- In the third round of the 102nd Metropolitan, Tyler Goecke extended his lead to six shots with an impressive score of 64. However, his streak of bogey-free golf ended with a bogey on the short par-4 14th hole. Goecke wasn't the only player to post a 64 today; Colin Schadek, a sophomore on the University of Findlay’s golf team and Liberty Township resident, and Brody Simms, a Cleveland State golfer, both had bogey-free rounds of 64. Colin and Brody are tied for third place heading into the final round tomorrow, six shots behind Timmy Hollenbeck, the WSU golfer and Horizon Conference Freshman of the Year, who stands at 11-under-par after a third-round 67.

The third round featured 13 rounds in the 60s, 19 rounds under par on the par-71 Donald Ross course, and 24 rounds at par or better, representing two-thirds of the field who made the cut. The easiest hole continued to be the opening par-5, with an average score of 4.47, while the hardest hole was the par-4 12th, which also averaged 4.47. The average score for the 36 players who made the cut was just under par at 70.94.

Tyler is just one shot off the mark set in 2017 by Josh Gilkison and last year by Mikkel Mathiesen for the low scoring mark of 18 under par.

Tee times will begin at 7:30 A.M. and conclude with the leaders teeing off at 9:31 A.M. Spectators are welcome to attend. Today's round was posted to the competitors' handicap records as a competition score.
