DEVELOPING POWER IN YOUR SWING

Medball_Shot_PutTrunk Rotary Power

The “trunk” refers to the combination of the pelvis and thorax.  By monitoring the rotary speeds a player develops in those two body segments we can get a good indicator of what type of power they can ultimately generate in the club.  The best way to measure these speeds is by analyzing a kinematic sequence with a 3D motion capture.  Not only does the kinematic sequence give us the speeds being produced but it also tells us the order in which they are being utilized during the swing.  If that sequence is out of order a lot of power can be lost in the transfer.

Join Us for the Most Heroic Round of Golf You Will Ever Play!

Throughout Labor Day Weekend, we will honor the sacrifice of America’s heroes, by shaping, changing, and saving lives through golf. Patriot Golf Day is the largest grassroots golf fundraiser in America, and now we have new ways to make an even greater impact on the lives of military veterans and their families than ever before!

Folds of Honor has partnered with PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) and will be conducting a joint fundraising campaign throughout Labor Day Weekend. Donations received will enable both Folds of Honor and PGA HOPE to better serve the needs of our Veterans and their families through the game of golf.

For the 2020-’21 academic year, Folds of Honor offered 3,802 scholarships to the families of military members who were either wounded or killed defending our freedoms, bringing the total scholarships awarded since 2007 to over 28,000.

This year, 2,500 qualified applicants went unfunded. And your support is needed now more than ever!

We invite you to join us by donating over and above your greens fee at participating courses this weekend or contributing directly to Folds of Honor and PGA HOPE.

For more information on Patriot Golf Day and to donate, visit FoldsofHonor.org or Venmo @PatriotGolfDay.
A NOTE ON OUR YOUTH ON COURSE PROGRAM
YOC_Banner

One of our core beliefs at Miami Valley Golf is believing that every child deserves access to the life changing opportunities that our game can provide regardless of socioeconomic status.

With that in mind, in 2018, we teamed up with Youth on Course to bring this national program to our Miami Valley area.

Youth on Course members can play at participating courses for $5 or less during allotted times, after paying a small membership fee which is also $5.

Our foundation (Miami Valley Golf Foundation) supports this program locally by supplementing the difference in green fees to the participating facility.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic we will need additional assistance as some of our opportunity for fund raising will not be available.  If possible, we encourage you to support this program.

An easy online contribution can be made here.

Score Posting Questions
Send Additional Questions to info@mvgolf.org
Q: If I don't hole out in the "Traditional Sense" do I still post my score ?
Ball_in_HoleA: Yes,While in all of these instances, the ball is not holed per the Rules of Golf (Rule 3.3c), a round played under these conditions will result in an acceptable score for handicap purposes using the most likely score guidelines (see Rule 3.3 of the Rules of Handicapping).
when to NOT post your scores
Here are a few things to remember when it comes to NOT posting your score.  All other times you should!

When_to_PostSo, DON'T post your score....
  • When your score can’t be verified by another person
  • While being coached on the course
  • When you play using non-conforming clubs, non-conforming balls, or non-conforming tees;
  • When you don't play the required number of holes, Less than 6 for 9, less than 14 for 18.  For the holes you haven’t played, you post net par for the hole.
  • And when you are not playing your own ball — scrambles, shambles or foursomes (alternate shot).

And remember...A key tenet of the World Handicap System is that it is based on the fact that a you will try to make the best score at every hole in every round.

So you post just about everything and that includes scores when you play Preferred Lies or adapting to modified Holes due to the Coronavirus !
