Join us as we celebrate the 2019 Golf Season by playing in the last event of our 2019 calendar, "The Celebration". This net variable best ball, four person team event will be played over the links at Dayton Country Club next Monday, October 7th.

Registration is open to all and groups will be formed for all those who don't register as a team.

Golf, Lunch and the Dinner Banquet are included with the Entry. You may also just attend the Dinner Banquet if other obligations keep you from the Course

Ohio IntraState is Friday

The 18th Playing of the Ohio IntraState will take place this Friday, October 4th at Shawnee Country Club in Lima Ohio.

Representing the MVGA will be Lori Schroeder, Grace Nikolia, Ryan Groff, Pete Betzold, Brandon Johnson and Ron Eubel.

Began in 1999 and hosted for the first time by the Columbus District Golf Association, the Intrastate brings Ohio’s best male and for the first time, female players together in a spirited 18 hole stroke play competition.

NCR CC Defends Title

Thanks to a fine foursome performance, NCR CC was able to distance themselves from the other 8 teams in the 26th playing of the Miami Valley Team Invitational this past Thursday at Sycamore Creek CC. This is NCR's 7th victory tying the old Greene CC who won seven in a row from 1996 though 2002.

This year, NCR's team was comprised of Chris Cadwallader, Rick Cherubini, Ron Cloyd, Kyle & Ryan Gillin, Alex Martin, Caleb Wolters and Mike Young.

Great Feats in Golf

This past Sunday, Paul Day won the Dayton City Stroke Play Championship with a Course Record 62 on the 7174 Yard, Eagle Course at Kittyhawk, breaking the course record of 63 set by Mike Dempsey.

Some highlights from Paul's Second Round. He made 4 pars and an eagle on Hole 2 to start is round, then turned it on, birdieing 9 of his next 10 holes, standing on #16 Tee at 11 under par before he parred #16 & #18 with the only blemish being a bogey on the 150 yard par 3 17th.

Congratulations Paul on the Win and such a STRONG Round...

WRAP UP FROM THE MASTERS EVENT

Under near perfect conditions, 115 players competed in our final Masters Event of the 2019 Season.

Over the course of the season, the Masters Events averaged 10 players per event older than age 80. Giving further proof that golf is the sport of a lifetime.

Many sports have a history of statistics ardently followed by their fans. In baseball, there’re league pennants, World Series victories, pitchers’ ERA, most hits and on and on. Football and basketball have their own stats which fans can quote in any bar in the country.

But what of golf? Leading money winner? Probably forgotten by next year, along with fewest putts and long drive winners. In golf the great statistic is how many “major” championships were won by a player in his or her career....
