Thanks for Making it a Great Year! | December 29, 2018 |
2018 was a great year for golf in the Miami Valley where the grass roots of our game are promoted and preserved.
We crowned winners in our Stroke Play Championships, Qualified Players to National Championships and provided playing opportunities to all skill levels though our Ladies (DDWGA), Men (MVGA) and Senior Men (Masters) events.
Miami Valley Golf also provided core functions for our golfers through our oversight of Course Ratings and Handicap Systems, as well as supporting many other core functions our golf community uses to manage our game.
We give back to new and future golfers through programs we support and manage, but all of these accomplishments are not possible without you, our area golfer, and all of our volunteers who support these events and programs.
They say it takes a village, and thanks to all of you, we have a pretty special one, one that is poised to continue our momentum, not just in our upcoming 25th Anniversary year but for many years to come.

Modernized Rules Go Into Effect
|
If you are lucky enough to be somewhere warm and get to play before our season starts, remember that the Modernized Rules will be in effect. We will continue providing weekly rule changes in these emails and offer seminars into the new year. But if we could give you the TOP THREE things to remember for your rounds in the new year they would be...
- Putt with the FLAGSTICK IN the hole, if you feel like it.
- Drop the Ball From KNEE HEIGHT, not Shoulder Height. If out of habit you drop the old way, just pick your ball up and drop it again, the correct way with no penalty.
- You can now remove LOOSE IMPEDIMENTS (any unattached natural object) in Bunkers and in what are now called Penalty Areas (Old Water Hazards)
There are many other Changes and if you want to watch a Quick Rules Change Overview from Expert Golf they sum them up very nicely and efficiently. Watch their Video Here |
