Active Score Posting Season Continues Until November 30 |
Samborsky Player of the Year |
Our Player of the Year has been one of our best players for close to 20 years now, and a strong argument can be made for one of our best ever, having won the Metropolitan Championship five times, one more victory than our inaugural champion, Vin Hilton and Longtime Ohio State Golf Coach Bob Keplerbut many would be surprised that he has not won the Player of the Year Honors for 12 years, having last won in 2007 and he also won our inaugural player of the year award in 2006. This year he received the Player of the Year honors by finishing 5th in the Metropolitan, Winning the MVGA Mid-Amateur at Springfield CC, finishing in the top 10 in the Ohio Amateur and by finishing T2 in the Ohio Mid Amateur. Congratulations to Peter Samborsky II ! To see a listing of our Players of the Years |
Thanks DR. Bob |
We hope those that attended the Dr. Bob Winters Seminar last Sunday got a lot from the opportunity and we encourage all of you to be a part of our Off Season Education Sessions on the World Handicap System, Rules of Golf and Wellness. We might also sneak in a talk or two from a Famous Author or Tour Caddie. All of this is part of our #MoreFromGolf Winter Program. More details will be released in the weeks ahead.
For those who missed the session, you are welcome to Purchase Dr. Bob's Book on Amazon (Hard Cover $14.13 / Kindle 7.99)
With Dr. Bob's Permission we where able to record a few highlights that you can watch on our YouTube Channel. The quality is not great but the audio is fine.

THE WORLD HANDICAP SYSTEM |
Beginning in 2020 a brand-new set of Rules for Handicapping will be introduced globally. |
Know your Course Handicap In the new system, your Course Handicap will be the number of strokes needed to play to par. This will result in greater variance in that number and presents a change, as historically it has represented the number of strokes needed to play to the Course Rating. This is a good thing, as par is an easy number to remember. Target score for the day? Par plus Course Handicap. The Course Rating will now be inherent within the calculation to be more intuitive and account for competing from different tees. Historical Reflections |
Your editor had a chance to visit with the archivist at the USGA a short time ago and was able to get a copy of a Si Burek Interview with Ben Hogan when he came through the area to spend some time with the folks at MacGregor (The Equipment Company He Played for Prior to starting his own company). The interview is from 1951. You will need to download the audio file for it to play.
