The Iconic Tree at Meadowbrook Gone |
So many lost so much on Memorial Day night when tornados tore through much of the Miami Valley and anything we can report is so unimportant in comparison. However, we thought that we would share that Meadowbrook @ Clayton seems to be the course that received the most damage. Their front side is still closed and they hope to get it opened by July 1st.
Their back side just reopened, however, the Iconic Tree in the middle of #10 Fairway is no longer standing.
For those familiar with the tree and the hole, it will definitely make the hole more manageable, but now they may have to change their courses logo.

Samuel F.B. Morse, the man responsible for creating the Pebble Beach Golf Links where the U.S. Open will be played next week, was a visionary. He was in charge of developing the area on the central California coast where the course sits, a long piece of prime real estate perched on a cliff overlooking Carmel Bay. The views are spectacular, and lots for homesites could have been sold for a great return. Morse saw it differently. He envisioned the perfect site for a first-rate golf course. Homesites would be on the inland side of the course or at other locations around famed 17-mile Drive, a prime attraction for visitors in the early 1900s. Read Complete Story |
Championship Volunteer Opportunities |
Each year many volunteers help make our State and Local Championships run smoothly and fill an important role in the reporting of scores to the golf community. These volunteer positions require about a half day time commitment and provide an opportunity to watch really good golf, on some truly outstanding courses.
As a way of thanking you for your time, we will provide an Association logo'ed Hat and Lunch.
The technology used to report the score is through an app called USGA Tournament Management and is very easy to download and install on your phone. (We offer support as needed on site)
If you are interested in volunteering please visit your volunteer page. You will receive an auto response upon your submission and more details are sent to you as we get closer to the event.
If you have any questions either place them in the comment box or email info@mvgolf.org |
