US men's Amateur qualifier is MondayJuly 14, 2018 

78 players will compete over 36 holes at Moraine CC for two positions in the 118th US Amateur Championship to be held on the scenic Pebble Beach Golf Links and it's companion course for the championship Spyglass Hill GC August 13-19th.  

Last year with northerly winds and cooler conditions throughout the day, four over par played off for the final qualifying position.

This years field comes from across the US and Canada with 10 different states and two Provinces being represented.  Past Metropolitan Champions in the field include two time and defending Metropolitan Champion, Josh Gilkison, 2010 Champion, Jeff Scohy.  Last year's qualifiers, David Gies II from Charlotte, NC and Tom Miles from Dublin are back for another try.

The 36 Hole, One Day Qualifier has morning tee times off of both tees beginning at 7am and afternoon times begin at 12:30.  Spectators are well come to attend.

DEADLINE FOR the metropolitan IS FRIDAY
Played for the first time in 1919 and won by Vin Hilton.  The Amateur Championship of the Miami Valley, now called the Metropolitan, is the highlight of the Miami Valley Amateur Golf Schedule each year.

The 99th anniversary of the first playing will take place at Sugar Valley Golf Club, July 26th through 29th.

RECAP OF THE US WOMEN'S AM QUALIFIER
A perfect day for golf greeted the 70 players who teed of in the US Women's Amateur Sectional Qualifier on Thursday, July 12th.  This year it took a two over par 74, on the 6300 yard Walnut Grove Course to make the playoff for the final qualifying positions.  Our Medalist who shot a two under par 70 was Lauren Hartlage from Elizabethtown, KY, also qualifying was Mikayla Smith, Adeena Shears, Kylie Raines, and grabbing the final two qualifying positions in the five for two playoff was Kristin Engle and Kystal Hu.

Thanks to the over 40 volunteers who helped with scoring, timing and spotting, Walnut Grove CC for being such a great Host Facility and all the players.

Look for our Qualifiers when they take part in the US Women's Amateur, August 6-12 at the Golf Club of Tennessee in Kingston Springs, TN

The Ohio Amateur just wrapped up yesterday afternoon at Wedgewood Golf and CC just north of Columbus.  Brandon Hoelzer from Freemont finished at 11 under par, winning by 6 shots.  Tyler Goecke from Xenia was the best finisher from our area as he tied for 3rd at two over par.

The Unforgettables Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Timothy Evans in 1999. During a decade of clinical ministry to children and their families, Evans assisted families with the many crises surrounding the death of a child not the least of which are the crushing financial burdens experienced by families with limited resources.

Assisted by Inland Empire educators, medical professionals, social workers, CPA’s, attorneys, bankers, morticians and others, Evans created The Unforgettables Foundation. Paramount among aspects of the Foundation’s mission is to assist low income families provide a dignified, appropriate burial for their children who have passed away.
