The Cost of a Wet Summer
This summer has been characterized by frequent and at times heavy rain, frustrating golfers and superintendents alike. Following rain events, playing conditions will be softer and slower than usual. Bunkers also may get washed out and disease activity rises, all while pressure mounts to reopen the course as soon as possible. Let’s not forget the tough decision of whether to allow carts on the course. Do these challenges sound familiar?

Our US Open Sectional sees another Ryder Cup'per
Four time US Open Sectional contestant at our Springfield CC (2014-17) site, Tony Finau lead the way for Team USA when he was the first to tee off early Thursday morning.

There is still a long way to go in the Ryder Cup but I'm sure we all wish him well in his first Ryder Cup.

Tony qualified for the US Open only once through our location in 2015.

An interesting note is that Tony is not the only future Ryder Cup'per who attempted to Qualify for the US Open through Springfield as Thomas Pieters was unsuccessful in his loan stop in Springfield in 2013.  The Belguim represented the losing Europe team in 2016 when it was held at Hazeltine in Minnesota.
COLLEGE CORNER

College Freshman Sarah Willis () is making & history already in just her 2nd Invitational with the Nittany Lions.
