 From the Short Grass for a Wet 1st Weekend in September 
Samborsky, betzold, gage & Lahaise winSept 8, 2018 

The Miami Valley Mid-Amateur and Senior Metropolitan was played this past Tuesday and Wednesday under very warm and humid conditions at Miami Valley Golf Club.  In the Senior Ages 75 and Older Division, Springfield's Tom Lahaise won by two shots over John Varner, In the Ages 65-74 Division, 2005 Senior Champion, Doug Gage won by three shots over St Henry's Charlie Gels.  

In the Overall Senior Division, Pete Betzold joined the exclusive club of winning both a Metropolitan Championship as well as a Senior Metropolitan Championship when he turned in rounds of 71-69 to outdistance the second place finisher Mike Dempsey by six shots.

And in the Mid Amateur Championship, Pete Samborsky, joined Jeff Scohy as the only players to have won a Mid-Amateur and Metropolitan Championship when he took home the first place trophy after defeating Pete Betzold for the Mid Amateur Championship on the first hole of a Sudden Victory Playoff.

COMPETE IN THE OHIO TWO MAN BEST BALL
Began eleven years ago the Ohio Golf Association developed the State Two Man Best Ball Championship.  This year the event will be held September 17th thru 19th at Jefferson CC in Blacklick, Ohio, a Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed course opened in 1992.  There are Gross and Net Divisions of play as well as age categories.

SCHOLARSHIP MONEY AVAILABLE FOR JUNIOR GIRLS
Each year the DDWGA awards Collegiate Scholarships for deserving Junior Girl Golfers the deadline for applications this year is November 15th.

the MVTI IS This Thursday
The 25th Playing of the Miami Valley Team Invitational (MVTI) is this Thursday, September 13th at Piqua CC. 

Clubs slated to take part in the Invitational are CCN, Dayton, NCR, defending champion, Piqua, Prairie Trace, Sugar Valley, Sycamore Creek, Twin Base and Walnut Grove.

This event features three nine hole rounds with Better Ball (Fourball) followed by Alternate Shot (Foursomes) and concludes with Singles to determine what Miami Valley Area Club has bragging rights as the best playing club in the Valley.
