2021 Metropolitan Championship Preview
Metro_AustinThe Dayton Amateur, now commonly referred to as the Metropolitan, began in 1919. The 98th playing of the championship is taking place at Yankee Trace Golf Club (Heritage & Legend) on July 22-25. Yankee Trace will play as a par-72 and will play just over 7000 yards.

The format of the championship is 72 holes of Stroke Play, with a cut after 36 holes.

The field for the tournament will consist of some of the best amateurs in the area but the champion from 2019 & 2020, Austin Schoonmaker, has turned professional and will not be able to compete in the championship again this year.

The field will consist of past champions Pete Betzold (2015), Pete Samborsky (2011, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2002), and Jeff Scohy (2010). Also, competing this year are Wright State's Nate Arnold, Peyton Houston, and Bryce Haney, as well as University of Dayton's Ryan Clements.
